Print Natural Partners with OurCarbon® for Waste Transforming Black Screen Prints

Philadelphia based print house Print Natural prides itself on using only the most sustainable materials they can source. Since 2017 Print Natural has been using organic, water based inks in place of the usual oil and solvent based standards. These inks are better for workers exposed to the curing process, better for customers wearing their products every day, and better for the planet.

Today we are honored to announce that Print Natural has chosen to partner with OurCarbon® and Virus Inks to print all of their black artwork with an ink that fits right into the Print Natural family. Virus Inks produces an ink base that is 100% water based and 80% bio-based with OurCarbon’s carbon negative material from biosolids as the exclusive black colorant, and now Print Natural can offer it to all of their customers.

Using this ink is a double win, replacing both the plastisol based ink bases used across industry today while also getting rid of the fossil derived black pigment that colors everything from paints to plastics to inks black.

“We’re extremely excited to kick off this partnership. The ability to take literal wastewater solids and transform it into the OurCarbon black pigment is already such a feat, but teaming up with Virus Inks’ awesome formulation makes it a real heavy hitter.” Jamie Dillon, Founder of Print Natural

To kick off this partnership, Print Natural will be offering sample shirts printed in OurCarbon black in a design that pays homage to the wastewater process. The SHIrT, as it’s come to be affectionately called, embodies the new collision between wastewater and fashion that this partnership creates!

“The fashion industry has such complex supply chains and so many players involved at each step. Over the years spent developing OurCarbon we’ve really learned the value of collaborating with like minded manufacturers and producers. Virus Inks and Print Natural both have set a high bar performance and sustainability in their work. Putting all three of us together makes a powerhouse of a value chain for offering carbon negative materials, in a healthy material formulation, printed at a top of the line sustainable print house.” Garrett Benisch, Director of Design Development, Bioforcetech.

Produced by Bioforcetech Corporation, OurCarbon is a carbon negative material made from transformed biosolids; the solid result of wastewater treatment. Today, biosolids are either spread on land where contaminants leach into soil and food systems or are landfilled where methane emissions soar. OurCarbon’s production puts an end to both of these practices, sequesters carbon, and results in a clean new pigment that can replace fossil derived blacks. www.ourcarbon.co
