Solid Carbon Completes Largest Concrete Pour to Date with OurCarbon® Within it

Oregon innovator Solid Carbon is bringing carbon sequestration full circle by storing carbon within the factory floor of a mass timber production facility! The client, New Energy Works, will produce mass timber beams in this factory to be assembled using traditional mortise and tenon techniques.

The project poured 440 cubic yards of concrete, each holding 25 lbs of OurCarbon® as Solid Carbon’s Biolock Admixture. With a GWP of just over -1 lb CO2e/lb material, that’s over 5 tons of CO2 locked away into this factory floor for centuries.

With projects ranging from backyard ADUs to the undulating walls of skatepark bowls, Solid Carbon has incorporated OurCarbon® into over 1,000 cubic yards of concrete since their first project at Remy Wines secured the collaboration.

Sustainability is a team sport, and seeing the baton passed from Bioforcetech’s technology producing OurCarbon from biosolids to Solid Carbon incorporating it into a space that will allow for further carbon storage through mass timber is truly a fantastic relay race to see.
